Hey guys, Currently, Camtasia for Mac is running into issues with recording for those who have updated to OSX 10.9. As that was a free update, we expect many of you will be updating. We are working on a fix as we speak, and will be posting here when we have something for you all! As it stands, if you need to record with Camtasia for Mac today, hold off on updating to Mavericks until we get a patch released. Sorry for the inconvenience! Update: 10/24/13 We are currently testing a fix for this.

Update: 10/30/13 Version 2.5.1 is now live, and will fix this issue. You can find it here: or click the Camtasia 2 menu, then Check for Updates. Thanks for your patience!

With Mavericks (10.9) I was able to record Full Screen with Camtasia 2.5 for about 10 minutes before the recording crashed. Fortunately Camtasia saved the file, intact. I restarted the recorder and continued to record for another 10 minutes until it crashed again. Again, Camtasia was able to save the clip.

The recording was done on a high-spec MacBookPro (SSD, 16 GB RAM, etc.) If you have any pre-release updates that need field testing, please post info on how to get on board with that testing effort. Hey guys - I can confirm what Dave O'Rourke alluded to above - I can record screens in Camtasia 2.5 on my primary display but not my secondary display. If it makes any difference, I am using a custom area to record a single window (in this case a browser window) rather than the full screen - but that's just because I haven't tested recording the full screen. I'm happily back to using Camtasia for my screen recording rather than Quicktime (or Jing, or SnagIt or anything else).

SMARTReporter is NOT a substitute for regular backups especially as it only concerns itself with hardware-level problems (like physical drive failures) and not at all with software-level problems (like filesystem health) that could also destroy all your data. A free gui software replacement for smartreporter. Aug 17, 2014  Question: Q: A free GUI software replacement for SMARTreporter? I used to use old SMARTreporter in Mac OS X 10.5.8, but it is not freeware anymore for v3.x. I am trying to find a replacement for Mac OS X 10.8.5. SmartReporter GUI is not able to connect to SmartReporter Server - stuck at 40% without any error: All other SmartConsole GUI clients open correctly (if SmartReporter Server runs on the Security Management Server).

The only bummer is not being able to record from my secondary monitor but I'm happy working around that until this bug is fixed. I too jumped too quickly on Mavericks and not only Camtasia is almost kaput; Keynote has been doing all kinds of funny stuff and my mouse is not always reacting like it should. It's been a bit hellish since last Friday. Problems in Camtasia 2.4.0 (cannot use latest 2.5 on Retina' secondary monitor - so switched back to 2.4): - image freezes and does not follow screen which mixes up 2 images together - not pretty - won't allow me to use PinPoint as it totally freezes the screen when recording Can we remove Mavericks until everyone finds ways to fix the bugs and Apple spends a bit more time on making sure that it works on MacBook Pro Retina? I'll do what chris has suggested - try recording from my Retina display instead of secondary monitor.
